When Katrina Bookman hit the $43 million jackpot at a New York Casino back in August, she thought she had it made. She planned to buy her son a barbershop and give back to her community. The problem was that she didn't actually win.
While the machine told her that she won the $43 million, it turns out the machine's maximum prize is $6,500, and her big win was a malfunction. Now, Resorts World Casino is refusing to pay.
As she was escorted off the casino floor, she asked the workers what she won and
Order Book was told, "You didn't win nothing."
Since that day, the only thing she has been offered is a steak dinner and $2.25.
"They win and the house doesn't want to pay out. To me that's unfair," Bookman's attorney, Alan Ripka, stated. "The machine takes your money when you lose. It ought to pay it when you win."
Bookman says that she "should win the max" and she has even offered to buy the casino director a steak dinner with her winnings.
The machine was pulled from the floor the same day and fixed before being returned.
